Is it true that young mothers feel depressed after the child birth?
Q. Is it true that young mothers feel depressed after the child birth?
A. Some mothers may experience post partum depression which may go on for weeks. It is better to talk to your doctor about it. Also, it is due to sudden drop in the circulation of progesterone, which is made in large quantities in the placenta. When the placenta is expelled from the body, the production of hormones is stopped suddenly and does not start till menstruation is re-established. Depression can also be due to tiredness or stress.
